Greens Score Big in Key German State

It is being hailed as the start of a new political era in Germany. The Green Party looks set to appoint its first state governor after Sunday's election in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The result is a huge setback for Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Fukushima disaster has had, and will have, many consequences around the world. One of the more unlikely, however, appears to be the results of Sunday's election in the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg, where skepticism about nuclear power helped propel the Green Party to a historic victory over Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

The Greens doubled their share of the vote to 24.2 percent, according to preliminary results released by the state electoral commission. They are now likely to govern the state in a coalition with the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), which secured 23.1 percent of the vote, down 2 percent from the last election in 2006. In what would be a first for Germany, the Greens, as the senior partner in the coalition, will likely appoint the state governor.

Radioactivity in Food, Water Sparks Fears of Widespread Contamination in Japan

Japan is facing growing fears as radiation leaking from the badly-damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station has contaminated food and water supplies. Bottled water was in short supply across Tokyo after Japanese authorities warned that tap water is too dangerous for consumption by infants. Thousands of people remain without potable water in areas of northern Japan ravaged by the earthquake and tsunami. We speak with Aileen Mioko Smith of Kyoto-based Green Action, one of Japan’s leading voices challenging the production, commerce and transport of nuclear material, and calling for sustainable energy policies.

The Egyptian now has a voice

By : Nesma Diaa

First i would like to extend my thanks and respect to the January revolution and young people who have sacrificed everything they have for an Idea ... It Is the Idea of Justice and Freedom
In previous eras and to be more specific in thirty years we did not bother to head towards the election committees to present our opinion that was because it was portrayed as if there is someone else who knows what is good for the country better than we do and they will present their opinion on behalf of us as well.

The Egyptian has a voice now in what happens and the affairs of his country (With Emphasis on the word “HIS”)
Now, Egypt is breathing Freedom and Democracy.
Now, we Know the culture of freedom of thought and expression
I felt really proud of being Egyptian and Has “YES” or “NO” expressing my voice as it is going to be respected as well and taken into consideration.

I lived more than a great scene …where the row is filled with Egyptian Voters old or young / male or female.
Everyone lined up to express their opinion, and no matter what will happen they will not neglect any opinion but it will take both opinions into consideration with the same weight and finally what the majority decides will be applied , The opposite of what we have used to that “You Have No Right To Express because We Know better than you”

Really, Thank you as “January revolution”, Which allowed me to have a voice as an EGYPTIAN

The common humanity....The reforming world

By the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 we witnessed a new paradigm in the world, successive and fast political, economical, social and natural major events are taking place especially in Africa and Asia.

Tunisia, Egypt then Libya and Japan and in every event we were moved by our very basic motive the common humanity we share we all feel a kind of support with different  levels offcourse but our desire to support the Tunisians and the Egyptians in asking for freedom and democracy and shifting political paradigms and methodologies in the middle east plus our desire to save the Libyan people from massacres and all kind of inhuman tyranny then our desire to support and help to relief the Japanese people against the major natural disaster of the century may be.

That was not only mere feelings but rather effective movements from politicians, diplomats, NGOs, human rights initiatives….etc.

All this assures that the world is reforming to a more sophisticated united paradigm based on synergy, maybe it is just an indication for a first step towards the 1000 miles road and we have also to mention that this rings a bell towards a peaceful world free from nuclear based industries whether peaceful or military.
